The Fall Festival began as a Chamber of Commerce fundraiser and has grown into a much-anticipated event that draws people from surrounding communities. This year’s festival is on Oct. 8 and attractions include:
- Car show
- Craft fair
- Steak cook-off
- Food court
- Beer garden
- Live music
- Kids games
It all started in 2010 when Jessie Godfrey, Chandra Tietjens, Cassie Cordell, and Kylee Raleigh happily agreed to organize and host a community event. Wow has it grown!
In five short years, the women built the festival into a multi-event show drawing approximately 400 visitors from surrounding communities. After their successful tenure, the ladies turned the event over to Chamber members to coordinate. The community extends its deepest thanks to Jessie, Chandra, Cassie and Kylee for all of their work and promise to keep this tradition alive.

The festival originally consisted of a cook-off with a panel of judges scoring juicy chicken, ribs cooked to perfection, and tender brisket. Voting for the People’s Choice award cost just $5, and soups were entered in a separate cook-off. The enticing aromas filled the air as visitors strolled through the streets perusing cars, buying crafts, and enjoying the music.
